Gerald Aballi

PTA, MS

Education: San Diego State University, Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, 1992. Gerald has over 20 years with PTHC as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Gerald is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Gerald is an expert in movement analysis and recognizes strength and postural deficiencies. Gerald works with his patients to maximize rehabilitation potential and functional outcomes. In his free time, Gerald enjoys time with his wife and rural lifestyle of inland north county.

Chris Ambrose

MPT, MSPT

Education: University of Delaware, Master of Science, Physical Therapy, 1996 University of Scranton, 1992. Chris enjoys treating a vast variety of orthopedic dysfunctions. Chris has over 20 years of orthopedic experience and is an expert in general orthopedic PT, as well as complicated conditions, including TMJ disorders. Chris enjoys spending time with his family, as well as participating in soccer and triathalons.

Dave Boutelle

PT

Dave created Carlsbad Physical Therapy in 1986. A former swim coach and teacher, Dave’s enthusiasm carries over into his business. Over the years, Dave’s creativity and foresight have allowed PTHC to grow into the network it is today. His morals and insistence on absolute integrity, throughout the company, make PTHC a leader in the field of physical therapy. When not working, Dave enjoys spending time with his family.

Ashley Duron

PT, DPT, CHT

Education: University of Southern California, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2010 San Diego State University, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, 2007. Ashley became interested in physical therapy after recovering from several injuries she sustained during her time as a competitive gymnast. She followed her passion to help those from similar injuries by studying Kinesiology at SDSU and then obtaining her doctorate from USC. An experienced clinic director, she enjoys working with all types of orthopedic injuries, but specializes in treating upper extremity pathologies that include the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist. She became a certified hand therapist in 2015. Ashley is certified to provide Astym, a regenerative tissue technique that encourages abnormal tissue healing and allows patients to return to their active lifestyles earlier. She has also found that this technique helps her patients with chronic conditions and can improve scar tissue mobility and cosmetics. Ashley is a certified Yoga instructor and personally enjoys practicing a variety of yoga formats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the beach, running, going to concerts and traveling.

David Salzer

PTA, MS, ATC

Education: San Diego State University, Masters of Arts, 1997. Dave has been an Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapy Assistant for over 20 years. He has been with PTHC for over 10 years. With his experience in multiple physical therapy and athletic settings, Dave offers patients sound advice and excellent treatment. Dave has extensive background in athletics, with a specific interest in Rugby since 1981.

Dennis Smith

PT, MPT, CHT

Education: University of California, San Francisco, Masters in Physical Therapy, 1996 San Diego State University, Bachelor of Science, 1993. Dennis offers 20 years of experience in treatment of orthopedic injuries. Since 2002, Dennis has been a Certified Hand Therapist. Dennis enjoys patient care and takes pride in customizing treatment programs for every individual patient. He works to understand the patient’s pathology and rehabilitation potential and then designs a comprehensive treatment model. Dennis enjoys outdoor activities shared with his wife and children, including hiking, biking, kayaking, sport fishing and fly-fishing.

Susie Sue

PT

Born and raised in San Diego, Susie graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Psychology. She completed her Physical Therapy Degree at the University of Washington. Susie is a San Diego native. She has been with Scripps Ranch Physical Therapy since 2004 and is one of our senior Physical Therapists. Susie specializes in soft tissue mobilization including trigger point point and myofascial release. She enjoys assisting patients following surgery to regain strength, range of motion, and return to independent living. Susie treats a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, but she also likes working with the neurologic populations including patients post stroke to improve functional balance and gait training to promote a safe return to an independent lifestyle. With her memorable laugh, Susie is a patient favorite and consistently has returning patients requesting her.

Calvin Jung

PT, DPT

Education: Rosalind Franklin University, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2015 San Diego State University, Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology, 2010. Calvin has been with Scripps Ranch Physical Therapy since 2015 and is the clinic’s Director of Rehabilitation. He enjoys working with athletic populations, especially those with pathological shoulders or knees, and facilitating their return to competitive sport. He enjoys applying manual therapy techniques including functional mobilization with movement, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and cupping. Calvin is also one of the few therapists within the company that treats vertigo.

Tristan Seok

PT, DPT

Tristan Seok earned his doctorate in physical therapy from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2013. He completed his B.S. at San Diego State University. Tristan uses his background in movement quality, muscles imbalances, and manual therapy to specialize in all aspects of human performance. Tristan is currently the Director of San Marcos Physical Therapy. Tristan enjoys working with the local & international community of Northern San Diego and is looking forward to help you return to a healthy physical life.

Alexandra Kamph

PT, DPT

Education: University of Southern California, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2014 California State University, San Marcos, Bachelors in Kinesiology, 2010. Dr. Alexandra Kamph joined the Santee Physical Therapy and Hand Center team in 2015. Alex is currently pursuing a specialty certification in hand therapy to add to her skill set. She has clinical experience in orthopedics to include hand therapy, custom splint fabrication, functional movement science, and collegiate sports. Outside of the clinic, Alex is a member of the National Physique Committee and enjoys competing in bodybuilding shows. She also enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Lisa Baker

PT, MPT, CHT

Lisa has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist, earning her Master’s Degree in 1996. She has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 2014. Lisa has worked for PTHC since 2010. Lisa has worked in a variety of physical therapy settings, with most of her experience in outpatient orthopedics. Her continuing education has focused on orthopedic injuries with a special focus on injuries to the upper extremity.

William Adkins

PT, MPT

Education: California State University, Long Beach, Masters in Physical Therapy, 2001 Loyola Marymount, Teaching Credential University of California, Los Angeles, Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology. Bill has worked at Carlsbad Physical Therapy since 2011. As a physical therapist for over 15 years, Bill offers each patient a comprehensive, custom rehabilitation program, specific to their injury or ailment. Bill’s background includes extensive teaching experience; teaching biology and physiology at the high school level, teaching PT’s and OT’s in China, teaching English in Russia and Ukraine, and teaching biology in Korea. Bill also has extensive coaching experience with high school baseball and volleyball teams. He continues to play beach volleyball himself. Bills uses his background in teaching and coaching as a P.T., helping his patients to return to an active lifestyle and performing their desired activities at their highest level.

Susan Kenyon

PT, MPT, JD

Susan Kenyon PT, JD graduated from Cal State University, Long Beach with a BS in Physical Therapy, completed all courses for a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration at CSULB and received her Juris Doctorate in Law from University of San Diego with an emphasis in Medical Ethics and Medical Jurisprudence. She has worked in Acute Rehab, SNF Rehab, Long Beach VA Hospital, Cardiac Rehab, Neuro Rehab, with Amputees, Spinal Cord Injuries and Orthopedics. She was a designated Physical Therapy evaluator for foster kids and in-house PT for Crippled Children’s School in Eureka, CA. Outside interests include licensed Private Pilot, licensed General Contractor and fitness and downhill skiing.

Nicole Daher

PT, DPT

Education: San Diego State University, Doctorate of Physical Therapy, 2015 San Diego State University, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, 2012. Nicole has been with Scripps Ranch Physical Therapy since 2015. She enjoys working with a variety of patient populations, including post op, sports injuries, and common orthopedic injuries. She enjoys manual therapy techniques including: Mulligan mobilization with movement, trigger point release, and PNF. She loves sports and has played softball since she was a child. In her free time, Nicki enjoys traveling, running half marathons, and visiting her family.

Amy Schafer

PT, DPT

Education: University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2014 San Diego State University, Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology, 2008. Amy’s leadership and excellent patient care skills earned her the Director of Rehabilitation position at Valley Physical Therapy. Amy is compassionate, attentive and professional with patients. Amy seeks motivated patients and individually designs orthopedic rehabilitation programs to each individual patient based on their specific situation or condition. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family & friends, hiking, gardening & just being outdoors.

Selma Umar

PT, DPT

Education: Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences - Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2016 University of South Carolina, Bachelor of Science, Exercise Science, 2012. Selma enjoys working in the outpatient orthopedic setting. She has a passion for helping people achieve active and healthy lifestyles. She utilizes innovative methods to return patients to where they need to be and pursue activities they love. Selma contributes to her patients' P.T. experience by integrating each patient's unique qualities into a customized plan of care to reach the patient's goals. It is of great importance to Selma that her patients learn to continue caring for themselves in everyday life after they successfully complete their therapy. Selma regularly takes time to advance her professional knowledge by learning new physical therapy techniques. In her free time, Selma enjoys spending time at the beach, running, hiking, kickboxing, and experimenting with cooking.

Mackenzie May

PT, DPT

Education: Rosalind Franklin University, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2016 University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, 2013. Mackenzie has always been passionate about treating orthopedic injuries and helping patients achieve their goal of functional independence. Mackenzie customizes every patient’s treatment based on his/her specific need and she strives to create an overall positive experience for patients and their families, while providing the highest quality of care possible. She has a special interest in the areas of knee and hip disorders as well as vestibular conditions and concussion management. In her free time, Mackenzie enjoys hiking, going to the beach, watching and playing sports as well as spending time with family and friends.

Sarah Meister

PT, DPT

Sarah Meister, PT, DPT grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and moved to San Diego in 2006. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, she worked at the Naval Health Research Center for six years as a microbiologist before changing her career to become a physical therapist. She attended the University of St. Augustine in San Marcos for her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys good food and spending time outdoors camping, hiking and climbing.

Janaya Pfeiffer

PT, MSPT

Education: California State University, Northridge, Master of Science in Physical Therapy, 2014 Eastern Washington University, Bachelor of Science, 2009. Janaya returned to California in 2017, after working for 2 years in Houston, Texas. Janaya feels confident in treating all general orthopedic conditions for PT. She has developed an interest in upper extremity rehabilitation and plans to become a Certified Hand Therapist in the near future. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends, going hiking and camping.

Romi Abouzedan

PT, DPT

Education: University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, Doctorate in Physical Therapy, 2016 Humboldt State University, Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology, 2014. Romi’s passion for physical therapy was sparked following a severe knee injury that ended his competitive soccer dreams. Following multiple surgeries and spending more than two years as a physical therapy patient himself, he was able to return to the field. These experiences motivated Romi to pursue a career dedicated to helping people get back to doing the things they love most. Romi draws from a wealth of experience as an athlete, coach, personal trainer and patient to help others improve their function and enhance the quality of their lives. Specialties include Applied Functional Science, lower extremity rehabilitation, and return to sport.

Tim Kirkam

PTA

Tim earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Cal State University San Marcos in 2011. He then graduated with highest honors from Concorde Career College as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He has had 7 years of experience in the physical rehabilitation and health and wellness fields. Tim has a background in sports, manual stretching, and creating balance and wellness programs for seniors. He is passionate about improving performance, decreasing fall risk, and improving patient’s mobility and independence throughout the lifespan.
